Ambleside is well on its way to becoming a comprehensive neighbourhood, integrating residential with office, retail and entertainment space. It has been carefully planned by professionals to reflect the principles of neighbourhood design without sacrificing utility and diversity.
All areas of Ambleside are connected by an abundance of green space. Trails will be linked to Edmonton's vast trail system, stretching for many kilometres through the North Saskatchewan river valley and adjacent neighbourhoods. Further development of Currents will bring retail and entertainment services within walking distance.
Ambleside is conveniently located near all essential services in Terwillegar and Riverbend, including shopping, schools, churches, dental/medical services and recreation facilities. The full service retail environment expands daily, and is planned to include shopping, casual and fine dining, entertainment and services. Anthony Henday Drive and Terwillegar Drive provide primary access to all of Edmonton and surrounding communities.
Service by Edmonton Transit during peak hours commenced in fall 2007. The Leger Transit Centre is now open and two Park n' Rides are planned for future development.
Throughout the community are wandering walkways and a promenade framed by trees; an open invitation to hit the road and soak up a little sunshine. Whether you walk, jog, bike or blade, the walkways will treat you to the sights and sounds of a natural treed area, ponds, small parks and playgrounds. Long term plans include the development of sports fields and a school/park site.
The community features ponds that function as storm water management facilities and open park space. The ponds are transformed into natural attractions alongside walking trails, landscaping, benches and viewing areas, and are landscaped with a variety of trees, shrubs, native grasses, and emergent and aquatic plants left to grow in their natural state.

Ambleside homes are exclusive to Ambleside, designed by master planners to reflect the Ambleside neighbourhood.
There is a Home Owners Association (HOA) planned for Windermere Lands Ltd's West Ambleside. The HOA provides an opportunity for residents' input into the future maintenance of their community and serves as a vehicle for enhancing or augmenting the level of maintenance.
